Introduction. Pizzeria del Capitano is Carnival's complimentary pizza counter — open nearly around the clock, no reservation needed, no cover charge. It's the venue you visit at 2 a.m. after the comedy show, and again at noon when you don't want to commit to a real lunch. Expectations should match the format: this is counter-service pizza, not a wood-fired trattoria.

Food & Drinks

The Margherita is the best option — simple, well-sauced, with decent mozzarella and a thin-ish crust that has some chew. The Funghi (mushroom) pizza is another reliable pick. Slices come out of the oven in rotation, so timing matters — a fresh slice is noticeably better than one that's been sitting under the heat lamp. The Quattro Formaggi can be greasy, and the specialty options like the Prosciutto sometimes feel heavy-handed with toppings. Crust quality is the main variable: when it's fresh, it's a solid 4; when it's been out 20 minutes, it's a 3. No drinks served at the counter — grab a beverage from a nearby bar.

Walk-up counter service. The crew rotates pies efficiently and will tell you what just came out of the oven if you ask — always ask. On most ships, the pizzeria is near the Lido deck — open-air or semi-covered seating, casual to the point of irrelevance. Grab a slice, find a chair, eat with your hands. Some newer ships have a more defined counter area with stools. It's not a dining experience — it's a pizza stop. And that's fine.
