Spice H2O Review: The Adult Escape That Sizzles After Dark

Introduction. Spice H2O is NCL's adults-only (18+) outdoor venue, found on Epic, Breakaway, Getaway, and other ships. By day, it's a calm pool and lounge area away from the family pool deck. By evening, it transforms into a beach-club-style party venue with DJ sets, dancing, and themed nights. Drinks are standard pricing or covered by the beverage package.

Drinks & Service

Standard NCL bar card in both daytime and evening modes. Frozen Piña Coladas and Bahama Mamas dominate the daytime orders. Draft beer is cold and efficient. During evening parties, the drink orders shift to Vodka-Redbull, shots, and whatever's fastest. The bartenders are capable but volume-focused during events. Daytime is the better drinking experience — slower pace, proper cocktails, beach vibes. There's no Spice-themed cocktail menu, which is disappointing for a venue with this much personality. The Mojito is premixed during parties; ask for it fresh during quiet hours.

Service

Daytime service is relaxed — pool attendants and bartenders handle the smaller adult crowd efficiently. Drinks to your lounge chair are available. During evening events, the bar gets busy but the staff are experienced party-bar operators. Wait times during peak party hours can stretch to 5-10 minutes. The cocktail servers working the event space help distribute the load.

Atmosphere

Two entirely different experiences depending on the time. By day: a serene adults-only pool and lounge area at the aft of the ship, with the wake churning below and the sun overhead. Lounge chairs, a hot tub, and the quiet that comes from no children. By night: the space transforms into an Ibiza-style beach party with DJ sets, colored lighting, water features, and dancing. The evening transformation is dramatic — LED screens, fog effects, and the open-air ocean setting create an atmosphere no indoor nightclub can match. On Caribbean itineraries, the warm night air makes it magical. On colder routes, it closes or feels too chilly. The crowd at night is 25-45 and party-ready.

Rating: 3.6/5. Spice H2O is one of NCL's most distinctive venues — the daytime adult retreat is peaceful and the nighttime parties are genuinely fun.
