Aquatic Club Bar Review: Poolside Drinks With a Side of Chaos

Introduction. The Aquatic Club Bar is the main pool-deck bar on Virgin Voyages ships — positioned right next to the pool and the Aquatic Club itself. It is the default daytime drinking spot for most sailors, serving frozen cocktails, beer, and poolside snacks. The bar is included in the Bar Tab package (~$50/day); individual drinks are charged per item. On sea days, this is the busiest bar on the ship by a wide margin.

Drinks & Service

The frozen pina colada is the top seller and it is decent — sweet, properly blended, served in a reasonable portion. The frozen margarita is serviceable but leans heavily on premix. Draft beer pours are cold and standard (expect mainstream options like Heineken, Corona, and a rotating craft tap). The "Vitamin Sea" — a vodka-mango-passionfruit frozen drink — is the best pool-specific option. Where it falls short: cocktail quality is sacrificed for speed. When the pool deck is packed on sea days, bartenders are churning through orders at high volume, and the result is inconsistent pours — some drinks arrive strong, others taste like flavored ice. Espresso martinis are available but take notably longer. If you want a well-crafted cocktail, visit a quieter bar; if you want a cold drink fast in the sun, this delivers.

Service

Service is friendly but stretched thin on peak days. Bartenders are working hard — the issue is volume, not attitude. Wait times of 10-15 minutes are common around 1-3 PM on sea days. The roaming poolside servers (when deployed) help, but coverage is inconsistent. Early morning or late afternoon visits yield much faster service. The staff are generally cheerful and handle the chaos well.

Atmosphere

This is the party hub of the ship during the day — DJ music, splashing, laughter, and the general energy of adults-only pool culture. The design is sleek and Instagram-ready with its clean lines and aqua tones. Where it falls short: it gets crowded to the point of discomfort on popular sea days. Chairs fill up early, the bar area becomes standing-room-only, and the music volume makes conversation difficult. For a quieter poolside drink, Richard's Rooftop (if you have access) or the Sun Club Cafe bar are better alternatives.
